Christmas Eve

Its 6 O'clock on Chistmas Eve night, we left Jace alone in the family room praying that he wouldn't destroy the present. Low and behold the only presents he has ripped into were his own. They were not the most brightly colored nor the biggest gifts under the tree, but somehow those are the only ones that he has opened.

Two weeks ago... just about the time he turned 6 months he learned to crawl, after he had that basically figured out he would crawl his cute little behind over to the fireplace, couch, laundry basket... anything he could pull himself up with. So now he is quite diligently working on walking.

Big man in a red coat that goes " HO HO HO!"

So mom and I took Jace to see Santa for the first time yesterday! I have to say he did very well. He didn't cry he just stared at Santa... "Who are you and why do you look like Grandpa Roy?" And as always when there is a camera flashing in his face, he didn't smile. Oh-well that doesn't matter to me I'm just glad that he wasn't screaming. We just got back from Utah for Thanksgiving. They had a shocking lack of snow, but the trip was wonderful never the less.

On a less happy, although funny side note (I love being a mommy) : Jace, while sitting on my lap this morning, even though he was mostly dressed; meaning that he was wearing a diaper and a onsie, somehow managed to pee all over my lap and the floor like he was naked as the day he was born. Needless to say I was not thrilled! Mike on the other hand thinks it was very funny. Especially since I don't think he has ever been peed on.

Sac-Town in the Fall

Today may be the first day that it has felt like fall here in Sacramento. On my walk this morning it was probably 62 degress with a refreshing breeze. The smell in the wind was delicious. Like every good and wonderful thing that comes with the holidays. What a glorious Morning! Here are some of the things I captured on my way (with my super cool new camera that my sweet hubby bought me for an early Christmas present).

The Holidays are coming! The HOLIDAYS are coming? THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING!!!!!!

Things here have been going well! The sun is shinning at a blazing 80 degrees ... I love California. We are getting ready to go out to Utah for Thanksgiving and we are both so excited. In preperation, I "let" Mike put the Christmas lights up this weekend, like I said it was 80 degrees but it looks great. I got a head start on my christmas card list so I am almost done, I even have been baking sugar cookies. Its just to bad it feels like April around here colder weather would make it feel a bit more festive. Truely things are great. Jace is trying to get the hang of crawling. He gets up on his hands and knees he then edges one knee forward and then the other... he hasn't moved his arms yet and I don't think he has gained any ground but he is starting to understand the concept. It's pretty funny to watch Mike and me get down on our hands and knees to show him how its done. But he is a very happy, CUTE baby--did I mention that he is cute? I think today may have been one of my first inductions to mommy hood...(I spelled so the baby wouldn't hear me) yes he's 5 months old and I spelled.

Halloween

Ok, so Jace is only 4 1/2 months old... trick or treating was really out of the question so we weren't planning on doing anything, however, I went to the mall friday to kill some time and of course I found clearenced costumes so I couldn't resist!! Jace is getting SOO big. I saw him just yesterday up on hands and knees and rocking back and forth. Unfortunatley anything more than that and he topples over. He is the sweetest baby! So happy most of the time I am amazed at how lucky I am. I am including a video that I took of Mike playing with Jace. He loves it when his daddy throws him up in the air and when he flips him.

My first ride

Yippy! I got to go on my "first" motorcycle ride with Mike. Ok so I was a little...alot scared at first. I have not had good experiences on bikes but I did well... he said so! My first ride the guy brought me home after 1 block because I was shaking so bad. The second ride, I told the guy what happend the first time and all he did was take me on the freeway for an hour ride. I was not happy!!!! So this time Mike took it slow at first, we went around the neighborhood the out to faster roads. I had So much fun! Here's hoping I get to go out again soon!

BABY'S FIRST HAIRCUT

So after much protest from both grandmas Jace got his first hair cut on the 15th. Mike sat down on the floor with him and with a pair of scissors did a little snip snip here and a snip snip there... and well, we think the results are definitely worth it. I hadn't realized how much like a hobo he looked ...with a used toupee. So you tell me which do you like better...

It's pumpkin time

Well the weather is starting to get cooler and the leaves are starting to change. Jace is getting so big! He has taken to chewing on his fingers and his feet when he can reach them. He routinely rolls over from his back to his tummy and thinks that it is great fun to try to roll out of his stroller if he isn't strapped in. We took him to Apple Hill today he saw geese and apples galor. Here he is hanging out on the smaller of the two pumpkins they had there. The other one was 1138 lbs. It was the second largest in the state of California. Jace was happy to stay on the 50 lb pumpkin. It was much more his size.

Long time

Well, it has been a while since I blogged. Things here are going great. Jace is getting so big. The last time was weighed him he was 16 lbs. Everybody tells me that he looks at least 6 months old. He's only 3 1/2. Recently we went to Lake Tahoe to visit Grandma Ronnie, she took us to the Reno Air races and we had fun watching the planes race around. Jace has been practicing rolling over. I put him down on a blanket and the next thing I know he is on his belly, I look back a few min. later and he is back on his back. We discovered that he does not smile for the camera. I think he gets mesmerized by the red eye light. But if I take the pic with my phone he does great. This picture ended up on the news the other day.

Well the summer is almost over and things are going very well! Jace went on his first airplane trip. We went out to Utah to visit family and Jace did magnificently! He slept the whole way out there and most of the way back. Grandma Michelle and Grandpa ray just ate him up. Here you can see Ray and Jace napping together. Since we got home Jace has started sleeping through the night and I cannot tell you how happy I am about that! Last sunday we also had him blessed at Grandpa Roy's house. It was a wonderful day for all of us. Mike seriously hated the outfit that I put Jace in but really have you every seen anything so cute?!?!?! Mike has another baby in his life... a 2002 suzuki Gsxr 600 he loves it. I keep waiting for my ride but he hasn't taken me yet! :[

Handy hubby strikes again

So Mike can never go long without a project. He loves to create, build and improve. He can really do any handy/decorative project he puts his mind to. The other day he decided that our bedroom needed Crown molding. And then 3 days later I had Crown Molding. It looks awesome. When when we were first married he would tell me he wanted to do/fix something; whether it was fixing my car or building something I would ask if he had ever done it before and he usually replyed "well, no. But its not that hard". At first it was a leap of faith to let him go for it. I am so happy that I did. I now have complete confidence that he can not only do anything he wants to ( or that I want him to) but that he will do it with such attention to detail that I never need to worry! I love that man. I now have a well painted room with a ceiling fan, flat screen tv mounted on the wall with no wires showing 'cuz he put them behind the wall. Shelves that mount on the wall. A totally well running truck, a beautiful craddle for our little boy. The list goes on. What a lucky girl am I!

Jace is doing GREAT! He is 6 1/2 weeks old right now and is (bless his heart) starting to sleep longer at night. He is getting so big, today a lady came up to me in the store and asked if he was 3 months old. I don't think he is that big but then again he had a healthy double chin. He is a healthy and happy bundle of cuteness! I can't seem to get enough of his good smell'n goodness!

ode to my pillow

Oh my dear pillow, how I miss thee so. It is not that I love the couch more than thy plush sweetness. Forgive my absence, I shall return as soon as my son shall sleepeth through the night. Till then my comfy friend, remember me in your dreams as I shall you in mine!

The prince has come

Well, Our little baby boy has arrived! Jace came to us at 7:06 on June 12th 2008. I was in labor for 31 hours and in the end it was all worth it. He had a serious cone head when he was born, and when they placed him on my chest I was pretty sure they had given me some asian baby. Now everything has reshaped and he is absolutely adorable. He has amazing skin and the cutest little smile. Mike and I are still struggling to find our features on him. So far we had decided that he has Mikes hair line and my jaw line. Other than that we will just have to wait and see! So now I spend all my time nursing and changing diapers. Today I actually took a shower and did my makeup and went out of the house... that felt so good!!! He went to the doctor for his newborn appt. and they said that he had lost 12 Oz. by the time I went back the next week he had gained almost a pound (the goal was 4 oz.). So needless to say he is a hungry boy. Before I know it I will have a little rolley-polley!

He can come now

I have the coolest Husband ever! Mike decided several months ago that that he wanted to build a craddle for our new little baby boy. He came up with a design - Built the craddle - made the craddle Mattress from scratch and even made fitted sheets !!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!! So that was our landmark. Baby Jace was not allowed to come unti this craddle was finnished, because we needed a place for him to sleep in our room. So now its done and we are just waiting for him to make his grand entrance. The craddle sits on my side of the bed just waiting to be rocked.

"do I really need this?"

I never realized how much stuff you need for your baby! As my time is dwindling down and I am attempting to organize everything I have vs. what else I need, I realize just as in everything out there they will try to sell you every gadget and gizmo. However now they haven’t added “new” things that you need, no they just make the old standby more “nifty”. When I was little I had a play pen. I loved my play pen. I would sit in there for hours sometimes and I would play or nap and it was just my little space. It had a floor (which I had long ago peeled the covering off of and played with the cardboard floor), and mesh walls. I’m pretty sure it had Raggedy Ann and Andy on it and mom put some stacky toys in there and I was happy as a clam. Now… there is no such thing as a Play pen. NO it’s a pack-‘n- play! Complete with bassinet attachment, changing table attachment, sun screen, Music noise maker and let us not forget the accompanying remote control. And let us not forget that it that this highly convenient new system doesn’t fit through most doors… So why does it have wheels if it’s just meant to sit in your living room. Don’t even get me started on the high chairs! They now have toys that attach to the tray. Who needs food when you have a 6’’ palm tree one hand and an ugly elephant on the other? What is the purpose of this? Do people really leave their kids in the highchair to play; like a baby sitter… Isn’t that what the supper nifty pack-‘n-play is for? I will admit the one new cool thing I like is the jogger! It’s a jeep! Every young mom’s left over fantasy from when she was 14 and just knew that one day she would be cruising around town with her hair blowing in the wind; radio blaring some cheesy girl breakup song. Most likely you never did get hat jeep but here you can have this one, complete with hand break a place for you baby wipes, two cup holders, a storage basket with more trunk space than a real jeep and lets not forget the important element of a Jeep… The radio! Yep it has an Ipod jack and speakers ( I have to admit, that was a big selling point for me) So nothing is simple anymore, even the babies are high tech.

dawning of a new era

Ok, So Today I am starting the new blog for me and my growing family! Mike and I have been married for about a year and a half and I am 8 1/2 months pregnant with our first little boy Jace. We are so excited to have him come into our lives and cannot wait for all the fun to begin. I am currently working at an insurance brokerage in town and have 2 weeks left. Unfortunately I have successfully trained everybody to replace me that I am now Master and Commander of.... The SHREDDER. That's right I pretty much shred paper for 4 hours a day, then I get to go home. Mike works for an Electrical Supply Company in Rancho Cordova ( just east of Sacramento).
Right now we are working on finishing the nursery and Mike is in the process of building me a cradle. I am so excited, he came up with the design and has done an amazing job! So for now we are counting down the days till the baby is here. Mike is getting prepared, he purchase an OB kit from a medical supply Store today... "just in case he has to deliver" he will have it handy, I told him that his only job is to drive faster to get me to the place that has the drugs!!!
